How to open tailgate on gmc envoy?

so i just bought this great used ride: a 2004 GMC Envoy XUV. the only problem is, i can't figure out how to open the back! the owners manual did not come with the vehicle, and i hate to admit to my husband that i can't figure this out!! can someone help me, please?
